Anyone can submit a nomination or application for the following five categories:

Rescue Dog of the Year

This category celebrates a truly exceptional rescue dog who deserves the spotlight. We’re looking for dogs whose stories inspire; whether they’ve overcome a challenging start in life, supported their owner through difficult times, or brought comfort, joy and companionship to the people around them.

Rescue Cat of the Year

This category celebrates a truly exceptional rescue cat who deserves the spotlight. We’re looking for cats whose stories inspire; whether they’ve overcome a challenging start in life, supported their owner through difficult times, or brought comfort, joy and companionship to the people around them.

Foster Carer of the Year

This category celebrates an exceptional foster carer who has made a real difference to the lives of rescue pets.

We’re looking for individuals whose dedication and compassion have helped animals recover, rebuild trust, and get the second chance they deserve.

Rescue Volunteer of the Year

This category celebrates an exceptional rescue volunteer whose dedication, passion, and hard work have made a real difference to the lives of rescue pets. . We’re looking for individuals whose commitment inspires others and has helped animals get the second chance they deserve.

Rescue Influencer of the Year

This category celebrates a rescue influencer who is using their platform, big or small, to make a real difference in the lives of rescue dogs and cats. We’re looking for people who inspire others to adopt, foster, support rescues, or simply learn more about the importance of rescue.

For the next three categories, applications must be submitted by someone who works or volunteers at the shelter being nominated:

UK Shelter of the Year

This category celebrates an outstanding UK-based animal rescue shelter that has gone above and beyond in caring for dogs, cats, and other rescue animals. We’re looking for shelters whose dedication, innovation, and compassion have made a real difference in the lives of animals and the communities they serve.

International Shelter of the Year

This category celebrates an exceptional international animal rescue shelter that has made a significant difference to the lives of rescue animals. We’re looking for shelters whose dedication, compassion, and innovation have helped animals find loving homes, whether in their local country or through rehoming programs to the UK.

Volunteer-Led Shelter of the Year

This category celebrates an outstanding volunteer-led shelter, where the majority of leadership and operations are carried out by dedicated volunteers. These shelters demonstrate what a passionate, committed team of volunteers can achieve.

Applications for the following categories must be submitted by someone who works for the company or brand being nominated:

Best Pet Food Brand For Rescue Pets

This category recognises a pet food brand that goes above and beyond in supporting rescue pets. We’re looking for brands that demonstrate exceptional commitment to improving the lives of rescue dogs and cats, whether through their products, services, or wider support for the rescue community.

Best Pet Insurance Provider for Rescue Pets

This category recognises a pet insurance provider that goes above and beyond for rescue pets. We’re looking for providers who tailor their policies, support rescue pets and their owners, or contribute to the wider rescue community.

Best Veterinary Practice for Rescue Pets

This category celebrates veterinary practices that go above and beyond in caring for rescue pets. We’re looking for practices that provide tailored care, support rescue owners, or help shelters and rescues in innovative ways.
